Whisper Heart, Original Art | Ingrid Sanchez

Whisper Heart is a carved wooden sacred heart wrapped in my hand painted silk, part of Corazones de Seda, a series of one of a kind hearts born from the beautiful leftovers of my studio. Each heart is wrapped in offcuts of the silk I paint for my framed silk panels, so nothing is wasted and no two hearts are ever the same.

Its shape is inspired by the sacred hearts of Mexico, where I was born, crowned with carved golden flames that rise like light. Below, the silk holds a soft garden in violet, lilac and blush, with fresh spring green leaves unfolding across the heart and pale blooms drifting through like a gentle whisper.

On the back, I have painted the wood white, signed it and written 'Whisper', London 2026. I also added a small piece of the silk this heart was born from, a little memory of the original painting, so the story stays with it. A hole at the top lets it hang on the wall, or it can rest on a shelf, a bedside table or an altar as a small offering of love, light and protection.
