New Moon Black Monstera is a 16” shamanic drum hand-crafted and hand-finished by artist Ingrid Sanchez. Built on a natural ash wood hoop, this unique drum features a goat hide marked by a single, large monstera leaf, revealing a deep indigo-black impression reminiscent of moonless nights and the inward pull of the New Moon. Its botanical imprint carries depth, mystery, and quiet intensity.

One side of the hide is sealed with pure beeswax to help protect the surface from humidity while honouring the natural materials.

The 3” deep frame produces a strong, deep, resonant tone ideal for meditation, ritual, energy work, or ceremonial practice. Created with reverence for lunar cycles, plant spirit, and traditional craftsmanship, this drum embodies the essence of the New Moon, an invitation to turn inward, reconnect, and honour the unseen.

At the heart of this drum is a naturally holed hag stone, sourced from the shores of Great Yarmouth. Nestled in the centre, it represents a belly button, a symbol of birth, grounding, and the eternal connection to the Earth.

In folklore, hag stones are known as protective talismans, said to hold the power to see through illusions and into other realms. Here, it serves as both a visual anchor and energetic focal point, making this drum not only a musical instrument, but a spiritual companion.

CARE INSTRUCTIONS

This drum is crafted from natural materials, wood and hide that respond to temperature and humidity. In damp or cold weather, the hide may soften. If this happens, gently warm the drum before playing (near your body, in a warm room, briefly in indirect sunlight, or using a hair dryer on a low, warm setting) to restore tension and tone.
