Blue Star Fern is a 12” shamanic drum hand-crafted and hand-painted by artist Ingrid Sanchez. Built on a willow wood hoop, this one-of-a-kind drum features a natural goat hide transformed through a cyanotype process using a single Blue Star fern leaf. The result is an ethereal, deep-blue impression rich with texture and organic movement.

Delicate golden details—reminiscent of scattered stardust—contrast beautifully with the cool cyan tones, giving the piece a celestial, dreamlike presence. The frame is wrapped in Ingrid’s hand-painted silk, creating a soft botanical feel that complements the natural hide. A functional rim lacing completes the design, offering a clean, refined finish.

CARE INSTRUCTIONS

This drum is made with natural materials: wood and hide that naturally respond to humidity. In damp or cold weather, the hide may soften. If this happens, gently warm the drum before playing (near your body, in a warm room, briefly in indirect sunlight, or using a hair dryer on a low, warm setting) to restore its tension and tone.
