Facing the Sun | Sunflower Cyanotype by Ingrid Sanchez
‘Facing the Sun’ is a quiet tribute to strength, radiance, and connection. This original cyanotype features two sunflowers, their forms captured in luminous indigo, as if bathed in moonlight rather than sun. Though rendered in blue, the warmth of these blooms remains: bold, open, and reaching for the light.
Hand-printed in my West London studio, this piece uses the alchemical power of sunlight to preserve the silhouettes of these iconic flowers. The composition holds both contrast and softness, evoking resilience and companionship through nature’s most optimistic form.
Printed on Winsor & Newton hot press watercolor paper, this cyanotype carries subtle surface texture and tonal depth, a timeless impression made with only water, light, and plants.
