Heart: Whisper No.1, Original Art | Ingrid Sanchez

Whisper No.1 is a carved hardwood heart wrapped in my hand painted silk, part of Corazones de Seda, a series of one of a kind hearts born from the beautiful leftovers of my studio. Each heart is wrapped in offcuts of the silk I paint for my framed silk panels, so nothing is wasted and no two hearts are ever the same.

This heart holds a soft garden of blooms in plum, rose, violet and deep indigo, with little glimmers of golden green and peach. The flowers seem to float and fade into one another like a memory of spring, or a secret shared quietly between friends. The silk follows every curve of the carved wood, catching the light as you turn it in your hands.

Whisper No.1 is a substantial piece, carved from thick, solid hardwood, with a lovely weight that makes it feel precious to hold. On the back, the silk is gathered and folded by hand around a bare wood heart, where I have signed it and written London U.K. 2026. A keyhole slot means it can hang on the wall, or simply rest on a shelf, a bedside table or an altar, as a reminder of love, tenderness and the beauty that can grow from what others might throw away.
