gilded-heart-original-art-ingrid-sanchez
Gilded Heart, Original Art | Ingrid Sanchez

Gilded Heart is a carved wooden sacred heart wrapped in my hand painted silk, part of Corazones de Seda, a series of one of a kind hearts born from the beautiful leftovers of my studio. Each heart is wrapped in offcuts of the silk I paint for my framed silk panels, so nothing is wasted and no two hearts are ever the same.

Its shape comes from the sacred hearts of Mexico, crowned here with silver flames traced in gold and scattered with tiny hand painted flowers and dots of green, rose and turquoise, like blossoms growing from the fire. Below, the silk glows with deep emerald and jade leaves rising through the center, warmed by coral, rose and plum on one side and golden yellow on the other, all speckled with little white stars.

On the back, I have painted the wood white, signed it and written London U.K. 2026. I also added a small piece of the silk this heart was born from, a little memory of the original painting, so the story stays with it. A hole at the top lets it hang on the wall, or it can rest on a shelf, a bedside table or an altar as a small offering of love, light and protection.

Specifications

Medium: Hand painted silk on carved wood, with silver and gold painted flames and hand painted details

Dimensions: approx. 11 x 15 cm | 4.3 x 5.9 in

Details: One of a kind.
